The Five Projects
Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche and Khyentse Foundation’s Board of Directors have identified and prioritized the following five projects as means to establish a system of patronage.
1. Scholarships
Economic considerations often restrict students who wish to attend teachings or undertake retreats. Khyentse Foundation scholarships provide the necessary funding to enable students to pursue their study and practice without burdening themselves or others. This funding helps to ensure that the Buddhadharma is available to all those who seek it. Naturally, such assistance will be awarded on merit and need, regardless of nationality, ethnic origin, or cultural background.

2. Endowment Fund for Monastic Education
A stable monastic tradition with a strong emphasis on higher philosophical studies and long-term retreat is the root of Buddhism as a living tradition.
The Foundation has created an endowment fund for the maintenance and upkeep of Rinpoche’s monastic colleges in Tibet, India, and Bhutan, where over 900 students, monks, nuns, and lay practitioners depend on Rinpoche for their basic needs.

3. Translations and Publications
The objective of the Publication Fund is to make Buddhist texts, ancient and contemporary, readily available to all those who wish to study the dharma. Efforts are concentrated on projects that support the preservation, translation, and distribution of Buddhist texts in all traditions and lineages. Two original texts by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche are available free of charge through the Foundation’s initiatives. Rinpoche also wishes to publish and, where possible, freely distribute texts and translations of dharma books by other authors.
