Economic considerations can often restrict students wishing to attend teachings or go on retreats. Khyentse Foundation scholarships provide the necessary funding to enable students to pursue their study and practice without burdening themselves and others. This will help ensure that the Buddha Dharma is available to all those who seek it.

"There is so much benefit in helping those who want to study and practice. Milarepa said the practitioner and the patron will face Buddhahood together. It is important that we train Tibetans and non-Tibetans alike. And if we really want to help people understand Buddhism, I think that it is quite important for students to themselves become teachers. This comes with study and practice. It breaks my heart when I see the sacrifices some students must make with the very little money they have saved. Some will sleep in their car for months and eat one meal a day just to receive teachings. So if we can offer support, we should.”

- Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche
